Many shampoos are harsh, especially those with antibiotics and synthetic pesticides in them. They put unnecessary chemicals on your dogs coat. Not to mention that every time you bathe your dog, unless you are wearing gloves, the same chemicals are being absorbed into your skin. Antibiotic laden shampoos not only attack the bad bacteria but the good bacteria as well.

Many pet shampoos
contain artificial moisturizers, however, these synthetic additives are not as beneficial to your pet's skin as his/her own natural oil secretions. Bathing too often may make your dog smell bad faster than if you bathed less often.

To avoid 'over bathing' why not spritz your dog with a little organic lavender body spray when he/she begins to smell a little doggy!

Too Much Of A Good Thing
I have to admit that my least favorite job is giving the dogs a bath - probably because we have so many! Even though Meadow Green Farms has a wonderful completely organic pet shampoo, frequent bathing is not beneficial to your pet's skin. Dogs are dogs, and they are not meant to smell like they just left the perfume counter at the neighborhood department store.

Organic Pet Shampoo

Healthy skin is well oiled by the natural secretions of your dog's skin glands. The oil based coating is protective, and it provides a healthy environment where beneficial bacteria are able to thrive and prevent the growth of disease-causing bacteria. Vitamin D from the sun, which helps with calcium metabolism necessary for strong bones, reacts with these skin oils.
